Speciality packaging solutions provider, Parkside, has been nominated for two Starpack Awards for its Northcoast Seafoods frozen prawn and Rhythm 108 Ooh-la-la tea biscuits packs.
A category-first, the Northcoast Seafoods frozen prawn pack is a reclosable solution for frozen foods designed to improve ease of use and eliminate food wastage through freezer spillage. The product ideally serves the growing convenience foods market, with unique laser technology creating easy opening for consumers and a bespoke adhesive and lamination technique allowing secure reclosing.
The Rhythm 108 Ooh-la-la tea biscuits pack is a compostable share bag designed to match the brand’s natural, organic ethos. Catering for the growing market demand for eco-friendly packaging options, it uses materials from sustainable sources such as eucalyptus trees and corn waste. Parkside is the first flexible packaging company to gain full Vincotte accreditation and the pack is accordingly suitable for home and industrial composting, degrading within 26 weeks. Its functionality performance is as impressive as its environmental credentials, providing excellent product protection and extending shelf life to minimise food waste.
Phil O’Driscoll, Head of Innovation and NPD at Parkside, said: “It is an honour to receive the Starpack Awards shortlistings and we are delighted to have our creative innovation recognised. Both the Northcoast Seafoods frozen prawn and Rhythm 108 Ooh-la-la tea biscuits packs demonstrate Parkside’s market-leading packaging expertise and we are proud of what the team has achieved with the products.”
Focussing on innovation, the Starpack Awards celebrate outstanding merit in packaging and honour the sector’s most exciting developments. The ceremony is due to be held in February 2018 in London and will be attended by the sector’s most influential companies.
