An innovative re-close frozen food pack developed by speciality packaging solutions provider, Parkside, has had quadruple success in the prestigious 2018 Starpack Industry Awards.
Thought to be the UK’s first of its kind, the frozen food pack, developed for Northcoast Seafoods Ltd., took home a Bronze, Inclusive Design and Greenstar Sustainability award. In addition, the pack also won Best in Show with judges noting the clever and innovative use of technology.
The Northcoast Seafoods frozen pack, which launched in a Speciality Seafood range in Morrisons, is a reclosable solution designed to improve ease of use and eliminate food wastage through freezer spillage. The product ideally serves the growing convenience foods market, with unique laser technology creating an easy opening for consumers and a bespoke adhesive and lamination technique allowing secure reclosing.

The Starpack Awards celebrate outstanding developments in packaging and honour the sector’s most influential companies. Focusing on innovation, entries are judged by pack appearance and the challenges that have been overcome in their creation.
In addition, Parkside scooped a further two accolades for its Rhythm 108 Ooh-la-la tea biscuits packs. The West Yorkshire based company was commended for innovative use of material as it picked up a Bronze and another Greenstar Sustainability award.
The Rhythm 108 Ooh-la-la tea biscuits pack is a compostable share bag designed to match the brand’s natural, organic ethos. Catering for the growing market demand for eco-friendly packaging options, it uses materials from sustainable sources such as eucalyptus trees and corn waste.
