Yorkshire-based sustainable flexible packaging specialist, Parkside, has continued its support of its employees, families and community by sponsoring the new kit of a local girls’ football teams.
“At a time when local grassroots football teams are suffering from a lack of funding, Parkside is proud to support Castleford Town Girls JFC U9’s as part of our ongoing drive to contribute to the local community around our UK headquarters in Normanton,” said Paula Birch, Global Sales Director at Parkside.
QHSE Manager at Parkside, Richard Hallas, who has two daughters playing for the club, commented: “Castleford Town Football Club is a long-established boys’ football club. However, at the start of 2022 there was an opportunity to add girls-only teams and grow the sport across Castleford and the surrounding areas.
“We currently have 19 girls signed on with our club and we hope to grow this during the Summer. We provide a safe, fun and enjoyable environment for the girls to learn new skills, meet new friends and develop their footballing skills. The support from Parkside has been pivotal in helping us get started and now the girls have an amazing brand-new kit to play in.”
The donations for the new kits were presented by Richard to the Chairman of the club Simon O’Connor.
Paula Birch further commented: “We were delighted to support Richard and his girls’ team as they looked for funding to help them get up and running for the new season. As a globally operating business with firm roots in Yorkshire, we aim to affect positive change in the local community, and it’s important for us to lend support to ensure young people can participate in the sports they love.”
