Laser scribing with ParkScribe™
Our cutting-edge laser scribing technology helps us bring packaging projects to life with optimal efficiency. ParkScribe™ is a market-leading system that enables us to add new functionality to any flexible pack, unlocking innovative design possibilities for lidding films, pouches, sachets, and more.
How does ParkScribe work?
ParkScribe is a next-generation laser scoring and cutting system for flexible packaging. It works similarly to many web handling machines, with the addition of precisely calibrated lasers that fire at the web as it moves from reel to reel.
It uses cutting-edge galvanometer technology to accurately direct the lasers across the web in virtually any pattern, scoring and cutting multi-directionally and at the speed of light. This enables the creation of complex scoring patterns and precise perforations that are impossible to achieve with mechanical scoring and cutting machines, all without compromising throughput.
Sustainability through functionality
Laser scribing can unlock the sustainable potential of packaging.
Ensure your packaging meets retailer guidelines and the preferences of today’s consumers by creating integral easy-open or reclose mechanisms without the need for extra stickers, zip locks, or other additions that may compromise pack recyclability.
Easy peel-and-reclose flexible packaging
Using the Parkscribe laser system, we can cut through each layer of polymer in a laminate with micron-level precision. We can sandwich adhesive between layers of polymer and score both layers independently to create an integral opening which consumers can peel open and reclose easily. This helps end users store portions of fresh food in their trays, dip in and out of snack packs without compromising product freshness, and more.
PopflexTM lidding film
Made possible by laser micro perforation, Popflex™ is a game-changing fully recyclable lidding film that we developed with produce packers and growers in mind. As a single-layer polymer, it helps businesses reduce the overall amount of packaging material they use on each product.
It can be weld-sealed to a matching recyclable PET tray and can also be developed further to offer many exciting possibilities for a range of flexible packaging applications. Both tray and film stay attached throughout the recycling process, meaning the PET material will not contaminate PP and PE recycling streams – and is suitable for recycling under current OPRL guidelines.
If required, macro perforations can be added to ensure breathability for certain fresh produce applications.
