In 2010, we undertook our biggest leap since we were founded in the early 1950s when we opened our Asian site. It marked our transformation into a true global market leader in flexible packaging, and since then we’ve gone from strength to strength.
Today, our Asian business is stronger than ever in terms of personnel, expertise, and technology – so for those of you who are unfamiliar, there’s no better time to get to know our Asian team a little better.
What do we do at Parkside Asia?
Our Asian HQ is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This adds flexibility and agility to our operations across the whole AIPAC region, where we have the flexible packaging expertise and technical capability to deliver excellence to a range of sectors, including food, tobacco, cosmetics, hygiene, and more.
We specialise in meeting our customers’ demands, wherever they’re based. In our Malaysian base, we work every day to deliver excellence in print quality and superb pack functionality for customers and consumers across Asia. For our partners in Australia and New Zealand, our Malaysia site provides better access to our paper-based laminate materials, enabling them to meet their sustainability goals.
Meet the team
Nothing we do at Parkside would be possible without the people who make it happen. They’re the standard-bearers for our values, and the ones who ensure every project meets our – and our customers’ – high standards.
Our Asian operations are headed up by Paul Vaughan, General Manager. Paul has almost 40 years of experience in the print and packaging industry, specialising in reprographics. Paul helps ensure the safety and productivity of the Kuala Lumpur site and acts as a vital link between Malaysia and our UK operations. You can learn more about Paul and what makes him tick by reading our interview with him – or you can connect with him by visiting his profile above.
If you haven’t worked with us before, it’s likely your first point of contact will be Surinder Singh, our New Business Development Manager. Surinder’s drive and commitment to excellent customer service have seen him achieve a lot in his short career with us so far, joining in August 2023 after several years working across the packaging industry.
If you’ve worked with us before, you might already know Rudy Gan, a dedicated, long-serving Account Manager and tobacco packaging expert who excels at after-sales service. Rudy has spent almost a decade with us, helping to ensure our customers get the best possible service before, during, and after their projects with us.
Prepress excellence
Just like our UK base in Normanton, West Yorkshire, our Kuala Lumpur team makes use of a dedicated, on-site graphics department and reprographic partners, ensuring every packaging run delivers crisp, high-quality graphics printed in vivid, accurate colours.
Print technology matched to the UK site for easy replication
For international businesses that deal in the European and Asian markets, it can be difficult to ensure consistency across continents when using multiple sites or partners. This isn’t the case when you partner with Parkside – our Asian site has the same ten-colour flexo presses with the same tooling as our UK machines, enabling us to easily transfer and replicate work on both sites.
Lamination and coatings
Our Kuala Lumpur site is home to three versatile lamination machines with duplex, triplex, and quadplex functionality, offering market-leading lamination capabilities to our customers. This means we make use of water-based, solvent-free, and solvent-based adhesives plus hot and cold sealing options.
Our barrier coating capability is also core to our business operations. As businesses in the AIPAC region migrate away from plastic-based packaging, our wide portfolio of innovative water-based barrier coatings makes the perfect complement to any paper-based flexible solution.
Slitting
Bespoke slitting enables us to minimise the waste produced on every job while also optimising setup times and production consistency. Our team of experts in Malaysia is dedicated to making our slitting setup work for you, no matter your requirements.
Market-leading NPD and technical expertise
Whether you’re striving to meet your 2025 sustainability goals, you want to improve the functionality of your pack, or relaunch a product line with a vibrant new look, our in-house technical team will make your vision a reality.
Our Kuala Lumpur base is a space where our customers and suppliers can visit to unleash their creativity and get inspired by innovative packaging design. Our product development experts put your market and your customers first in everything they do, tailoring every aspect of the project to meet your needs.
