Meet the team: Surinder Singh, New Business Development Manager

A relatively new face around our Malaysia site, Surinder has made a big impact in his short career with us so far. As one of the younger members of the team, Surinder’s drive and enthusiasm are invaluable in his role as New Business Development Manager, and he took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to chat about the things that make him tick.

How long have you been working at Parkside?

I’ve been working here since August 2023.

What is a New Business Development Manager?

My main responsibility is to drive sales activity in Parkside Asia. I do this by promoting and prospecting our innovative product offerings across the APAC region to maximise the profitable sales potential of our portfolio.

Describe your job in three words

Challenging, stimulating, rewarding.

What does a typical day look like?

My typical day involves a lot of talking with prospective and new customers, so I spend a lot of time talking on the phone and over email. I also collaborate with the whole team here at Parkside, making sure every person has a complete picture of our new and potential business in the region.

What’s the best part about your job?

I get to meet, learn, and work with wonderful individuals with diverse backgrounds in the industry and that inspires me to become better at what I do.

What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?

I enjoy representing Parkside at trade shows across the APAC region. It’s always exciting to meet potential customers face-to-face, and we recently had a great time at Korea Pack. Plus, I love experiencing new cultures and seeing the world at the same time.

What’s the best thing about being part of the Parkside team?

The level of support that I’ve received from everyone here so far has been truly exceptional.

Interests

I have a strong passion for paintball as this sport embodies the spirit of cooperation and teamwork – you work together with your team to achieve a mutual goal, which strongly resonates with what we do at Parkside.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?

A foreign language. I speak Malay and English, but a few more would be useful too!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?

If you choose to look for the worst in things, you will find it with ease. If you choose to look for the good in things, you will also find it with ease.

What’s something that you’re proud of?

In my spare time, I help distribute meals for Kechara Soup Kitchen. It’s a Malaysian charity so it is my way of giving back to the country that helped make me who I am.
