Parkside has seen its sustainable flexible packaging solutions take the spotlight at the UK’s Environmental Packaging Awards following a double win at the inaugural awards ceremony.
The first-ever Environmental Packaging Awards, hosted by Packaging News, brought together leaders from across the industry to celebrate the latest and greatest sustainable innovations. Parkside firmly planted its flag at the top of today’s packaging industry with two awards – a Gold in the Fresh Food category for its compostable lidding film developed for organic veg box company Riverford Organic Farmers, and a Silver in the Chilled and Frozen Food category for its groundbreaking recyclable freezer-ready paper pack, produced for supermarket giant Iceland.
This pack is the first fully effective freezerproof pack for seafood to be made entirely plastic-free, making it easy for consumers to dispose of the pack after use in their standard paper waste stream. The gold-winning Riverford lidding film is TÜV certified as home compostable in standard composting conditions within 26 weeks, and industrially compostable within 12 weeks.

However, we have to say this award does feel extra special considering it is the first Environmental Packaging Awards!

The inaugural awards ceremony was held at a glamorous ceremony in Birmingham’s The Eastside Rooms. The awards were handed out by the event host, TV presenter and environmental filmmaker Maddie Moate. The event aims to highlight high-quality packaging solutions that make a positive impact in the field of sustainable packaging.
